To The Water
-
Written by RauCous
Lead me out on a stormy night
On a procession to a baptismal lake
Take my hand as I take your invite
As we brace ourselves from the winds and the wake
Mumbling thunder echoes our solemn pledge
Lightning illuminates the darkened depths
And shows the things we seek to dredge
Yet still things for which we pay our debts
No rest from the tempest is given
Forgiveness by submerging the only way
To rid myself from that with which I’ve striven
And wash the grime and gore away
So push me now below the troubled surface
That I may face the remains of many a drowned dream
This airless space I won’t embrace
But in fear suppress the reflex to scream
Keep me longer to make me wonder
I must face my devils in this hell of water
But dont faultier to keep me under
Till I find Peace since twas I who sought her
If or when I ever find my grail
In this drowning pool I comb
If I ever resist my need to fail
Just dry me off and take me home.
